Udo Kier is without a doubt the sickliest of vampires in any director's interpretation of the Bram Stoker tale. Udo Kier is without a doubt the sickliest of vampires in any director's interpretation of the Bram Stoker tale. Count Dracula knows that if he fails to drink a required amount of pure virgin's [pronounced "wirgin's"] blood, it's time to move into a permanent coffin. His assistant (Renfield?) suggests that the Count and he pick up his coffin and take a road trip to Italy, where families are known to be particularly religious, and therefore should be an excellent place to search for a virgin bride. They do, only to encounter a family with not one, but FOUR virgins, ready for marriage. The Count discovers one-by-one that the girls are not as pure as they say they are, meanwhile a handsome servant/Communist begins to observe strange behaviour from the girls who do spend the night with the Count. It's a race for Dracula to discover who's the real virgin, before he either dies from malnourishment or from the wooden stake of the Communist!

Movie Reviews

eFilmCritic.com - 10/10 by Rob GonsalvesPretty funny, especially Roman Polanski's cameo, though not nearly as wild as Flesh for Frankenstein -- but then again, few movies are.
Variety - 9/10 by Variety StaffMorrisey long showed that his films, although more implicit in sex, drugs and characterizations, were really Hollywood films at the core.
Filmcritic.com - 8/10 by Christopher NullOne of the worst and least faithful Dracula intepretations ever made.
User Review - 10/10 by Joshua CWonderful mise-en-scene is constantly corrupted by overly dramatic contemporary and essentially wooden stage acting and gratuitous nudity. Warhol and his Factory must have been stoned out of their collective minds for a campy â??Wur-ginâ?? fest of campy crap! I give this surprising muck a big up thumbs for the pure fact that good production values, Joe Dallesandro, and the line â??The blood of these whores is killing meâ?? are worth their weight in hunk when it comes to camp.
User Review - 10/10 by Kelley AJoe Dallesandro says my favorite movie line ever in this movie: "I would love to rape the hell out her". The greatest thing about it is that he is so matter-of-fact about it...
User Review - 10/10 by Isaac JAccessible, broad symbolism that is incredibly string and feeds into the comedy.
User Review - 10/10 by Travis J"The blood of these whores is killing me!"
User Review - 10/10 by Heather MIt might seem silly for me to give it 5 stars but I really do love and enjoy this movie. Its so campy and funny and creepy at the same time. It's not just a film but a piece of art. The shots in this movie are just so perfect. It at parts seems like it could be vulgar but it's all done in a very tasteful kind of vulgar way, I'd that makes any sense. Udo is perfect as a young dying Dracula hungry for virgin blood.
User Review - 10/10 by Acinom NAndy Warhol's Dracula is just as NUTS as Andy Warhol's Frankenstein. The sex is a lot stronger in this one and The Guy at The Video Store (MEL'S PHARMACY in BROOMALL, Pennsylvania) wouldn't let me rent it in 1982 . . . I saw it when I rented it from Erol's Video Store in on Chestnut Street in Philadelphia in 1987. this even aired on USA-TV in 1989! To Edit it for Television, they zoomed-in on the screen to screen-out the gore and sex.
User Review - 10/10 by Patrick GPossibly the best/most ridiculous dracula movie ever!! Udo is as usual, amazing.
