Full Plot Details

A modern fable set against the rugged backdrop of a Pacific Northwest logging community, this is the story of Lillian (Julia Stiles), a young woman newly returned to her hometown who becomes the subject of harassment by a man named Blackway (Ray Liotta), an ex-cop turned violent crime lord who operates with impunity in this small community on the edge of the wilderness. Forsaken by the local townspeople, advised by Sheriff Wingate (Dale Wilson) to leave town, Lillian decides instead to take a stand against her sociopathic stalker, and enlists the help of an ex-logger Lester (Sir Anthony Hopkins) and his laconic young sidekick Nate (Alexander Ludwig), the only two men in town brave enough, or crazy enough, to go with her, and go up against Blackway.

User Review - 10/10 by June CThe TV listing had no stars ... watched on the basis of having Anthony Hopkins (didn't know about other stars until opening credits. Outstanding movie. A study of terror caused by one man. Unfortunately, society has too many people like this. The vulnerability of his victims and the terrorist's past encounters with him are slowly and skillfully revealed as the movie progresses. Excellent characters, excellent acting. Should be rated much higher than it is.

Maybe its because I like Anthony Hopkins understated performance? Maybe because I'm British? But I didn't find this movie boring at all. I loved it. Admittedly I did watch it in two sittings, but to me it could be transformed into a great series. The characters would be worth exploring further. I honestly can't understand the unfavourable reviews. Give this movie a chance, and let us know what you think...
User Review - 10/10 by Lara AYeah, it's slow paced, but who can resist the oldies??? For 31 year old woman like me I cannot forget Julia Stiles roles from "10 things I hate about you" to "Save the last dance" and not forgetting her fantastic role in all Bourne movies it's a good performance. You can feel her fear in this movie but a strength not to give up. And lest just say it Antony Hopkins in the mix with all the Hannibal background and in these past years as Thor's father, it's a good story of pain, love, anger and revenge as the movie rolls on. Just don't watch it at night. Good to watch on a rainy day if you are into different types of movies and know what these caracters are capable of. Not a critic, just a movie lover.
