Unfortunately, they are still in high school and on the verge of failing out of their school as well, and if they do not pass their upcoming history report, they will be separated as a result of Ted's father sending him to military school. But, what Bill and Ted do not know is that they must stay together to save the future. So, a man from the future named Rufus came to help them pass their report. So, both Bill and Ted decided to gather up historical figures which they need for their report. They are hoping that this will help them pass their report so they can stay together.
Leave your thoughts about Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.
The A.V. ClubNoel MurrayThere are multiple reasons why Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure is such an entertaining movie even now, but the biggest is that Matheson, Solomon, and director Stephen Herek found the perfect Bill and Ted in Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves, two young actors with just the right boyish energy.
Henderson Home News (Henderson, NV)Kevin FiddlerClassic! Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.
Eye for FilmJennie KermodeIt's hard to argue with their simple philosophy 'be excellent to each other', and the sheer warm-heartedness of this film means that it is always a delight to watch.
VarietyVariety StaffReeves, with his beguilingly blank face and loose-limbed, happy-go-lucky physical vocabulary, and Winter, with his golden curls, gleefully good vibes and 'bodacious' vocabulary, propel this adventure as long as they can.
Los Angeles TimesChris WillmanBill and Ted differ from Spiccoli, their “stoner” predecessor, only in that there are no drug references here to account for their allegedly jocular lack of ambition or interest in education or self-improvement.
Tulsa WorldDennis KingWhat really makes it all work are Reeves and Winter. They're such appealing, wide-eyed idiots that it's impossible not to pull for them. They make a great team.
Total FilmKevin HarleyIt dodges the pitfalls of message-heavy teen movies and skirts the spite of the dumb-and-dumber era it arguably helped birth. Add two innately loveable leads and you can see it takes some smarts to sell something quite this daft.
Slant MagazineChris CabinThe thorough goofiness the film luxuriates in, as compared to the covert self-seriousness of nearly every teen comedy ever made, sets Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure apart and heads and tails above the glut of its ilk. Most triumphant, indeed.
Common Sense MediaHeather BoernerSilly time-capsule comedy ideal for older tweens.
Stream on DemandSean Axmaker... this is a spirited doofus comedy sustained by the sweet, slack-jawed performances of Reeves and Winter as dumbfounded idiots who stumble through time to cram for their history final ...
