James Fordham returns home after a 6 months' absence to find that his wife has left him for another man. She returns, asking for forgiveness, but dies shortly thereafter. James swears to avenge her death and sets out to find the man who has wronged her. After changing his name, he discovers that the young girl with whom he is falling in love is engaged to the low fellow who stole his wife.
