Full Plot Details

The decisive years of Swedish footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic, told through rare archival footage where a young Zlatan speaks openly about his life and challenges. The film closely follows Zlatan, from his debut in Malmö FF in 1999, through his conflictual years with Ajax Amsterdam, up to the final breakthrough with Juventus in 2005. BECOMING ZLATAN is a coming-of-age film, depicting the complicated journey of this young, talented and troubled player who finally becomes a superstar in the international football world. It's a story about a young talent living under constant pressure. From the teammates in Malmö who think he's too egoistic and only plays for himself. From the tough managers of Ajax who send him to the bench, where he loses his self-confidence. From his father who tells the 18 year old Zlatan: You're nothing. You're nothing special until you've succeeded internationally. Throughout his journey, Zlatan stays true to himself. When he finally succeeds in Italy he also closes the doors to his personal life. Football superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic is an enigma, but in this story from his breakthrough years, he - for a moment - gives some glimpses into who he really is.

User Review - 6/10 by Pablo BSiempre he pensado que la "era de Messi y Cristiano Ronaldo" ha dejado tristemente atrás a un par de jugadores muy re buenos. Para mi es obsceno que el enorme Zlatan Ibrahimovi? no tenga al menos un balón de oro. Siempre lo he considerado un jugadorazo, y además sus desmesuradas declaraciones siempre me han dado mucha risa, jajaja. Una de sus perlas, "llegué como un rey, me voy como una leyenda" dijo al irse del PSG, jajaja. Un artista en la cancha y ante el micrófono xD. Este documental creo que no es nada del otro mundo, pero quien admire a "Dorado" sabrá apreciar algunas cosas muy interesantes. Me pareció muy bueno ver material prácticamente desconocido de sus inicios en el Malmö, curiosamente coincidiendo con el peor momento histórico del equipo más grande de Suecia. Ibra los ayudó a salir de los potreros y retomar su lugar en la 1ra división sueca. Alguien (brillantemente, visionario) cachó que había potencial en Ibra para ser un grande, y por eso existe ese material tipo documental desde esa época. Es interesante ver como el docu muestra la tendencia a la soledad de Zlatan. Como si tuviese suficiente con tener que lidiar consigo mismo, jaja. Tb como muestra que ya desde los inicios de su carrera fue arrogante. Yo creo que en su cabeza el compadre como que ya cachaba que iba a ser un grande a nivel mundial. Similar a Arturo Vidal, cuyas declaraciones en la sub 20 y en el colo me daban risa. Mírenlo hoy, como nos hizo pasar a muchos de la risa a la estupefacción xD. De su era en Ajax me pareció super interesante ver su amistad con el egipcio Mido, otro que tb siempre tuvo un temperamento volcánico (de hecho yo creo que eso tristemente truncó su carrera). Yo diría que entre locos de remate se entienden, jaja. Me parece bacan que ambos hayan podido ser amiguis con Van Der Meyde (de quien por momentos el docu muestra similitudes entre su padre y el de Zlatan), ya que el resto del equipo no los pescaba mucho. No es 1ra vez que escucho algo así de un equipo holandés. Tb se ve que por muy lobo solitario que sea, igual Zlatan tuvo que escuchar y aprender de grandes para adaptarse a las grandes ligas: luego de tener un pobre 1er año, Koeman (DT), Litmanen (en su 2da estadía en Ajax, ya en la parte descendente de su carrera) y Van Basten (DT divisiones inferiores) fueron muy importantes en su 2do año en Ajax. Es super interesante, pq ahí se ve como los viejos zorros pueden pulir un diamante en bruto. Los jugadores de fútbol a veces son gente muy impetuosa, y a veces necesitan buenos guías que les puedan enrielar un poco, pero no cortar el ímpetu. Me pareció determinante esa parte del docu. Quien sabe, quizá si no es por ellos Ibra podría haber terminado como Mido, que nunca estalló del todo. Buen timing del documental: Justo cuando hoy Tromp muestra su odio desmesurado contra inmigrantes como el adolescente-hater-nunca-madurado que es, este documental deja en la retina algo ya muy evidente por su apellido: Ibrahimovi? es hijo de inmigrantes serbio-croatas, se deja entrever que tuvo una infancia algo dura, y hoy es orgullo nacional total de Suecia. Al final da lo mismo que Zlatan siempre ha jugado por dinero (para él evidentemente Juve, Milan e Inter son lo mismo), el compadre respondió a ello siendo campeón de liga durante 8 años consecutivos en 5 equipos distintos. Eso es ser un fuoriclasse. Crack. Se merece su correcto documental. Está en Netflix. 3 de 5.
User Review - 6/10 by Kevin Cit's an ok documentary, but i was hoping for so much more, because it's about Zlatan. for a film that was released in 2015, it doesn't have newer material. also i found timeline in movie a bit confusing.
