Goatdog's MoviesMichael W. Phillips, Jr.Nominally a black comedy, but is one of those films where the horror of the situation outweighs any desire you have to laugh.
User ReviewJim CUn travail d'une noire beauté,la vérité sort de la gueule des chiens et Baxter ne vous lâchera pas avant d'avoir tout dit sur la vie et ca va faire mal.
User ReviewEric MA critique of the human condition from the perspective of a psychotic dog... not particularly uplifting but very interesting.
User ReviewChristian GBy placing the narrative within the mind of a dog the filmmakers capture satire in its purest form. Shockingly funny and profoundly cynical in a George Carlin kind of way. One of my all time favs.
User ReviewRichard C(****): Thumbs Up Smart and darkly funny. Well-written and directed.
User ReviewBrent ATerrier having an existential crisis. This movie kicks ass!
User ReviewMoe RI wouldn't call this is a horror film, nor a comedy. I don't really see what was funny about this to begin with, with maybe a couple lines. Rather interesting film, but wouldn't suggest it to everyone.
User ReviewSylvester KBaxter is an allegory of authoritarianism, which is the basis for this film. I highly recommend it. I first saw this when I was in my early 20s, and re-watched it since. It is French with English subtitles. The film is narrated by the protagonist, Baxter, who is a dog. It is a black comedy, but the dog as narrator must be taken seriously. Baxter craves a strict master and finds one in a boy who worships the authoritarianism of Nazi Germany. This movie lingered with me after I watched it, which, to me is a quality of a great film. It is highly underrated.
User ReviewJesse MGood movie. That dog is pretty damn sad but it was made to a T. Loved it.
User ReviewCasey BI was 15 years old when I saw this movie, and I have not seen it since. This movie must have had a pretty powerful effect on me since I still remember it to this day, almost 20 years later. I hope to find this on DVD one day... but then again, I might want to keep its mystique by not viewing a single frame of it ever again.
