Dean Hess, who entered the ministry to atone for bombing a German orphanage, decides he's a failure at preaching. Rejoined to train pilots early in the Korean War, he finds Korean orphans raiding the airbase garbage. With a pretty Korean teacher, he sets up an orphanage for them and others. | User ReviewMelissa MUnbedingt ein Nebenwerk von Douglas Sirk, und gemeinsam mit dem im gleichen Jahr inszenierten INTERLUDE der schwächste Film aus der à 1/4beraus kreativen Karrierephase der 50er Jahre. Immerhin weià man nach diesem dank groÃartiger visueller Gestaltung immerhin wunderschön anzuschauenden Film nun endlich, dass die USA am Koreakrieg vor allem teilgenommen haben, um Kinder zu retten und Waisenhäuser zu bauen. BATTLE HYMN ist leider ein schamlos schmalziger Propagandastreifen mit allerlei wohlfeilen Bibel- und Poesiealbumsprà 1/4chen und hat zu den abgrà 1/4ndigen artifiziellen Melodramen, die Sirk zu einem der bedeutendsten Regisseure seiner Zeit machen, rein gar nichts hinzuzufà 1/4gen. |
