| User ReviewAries EI honestly only originally watched this because Jared was in it. I felt like, "it has my favorite actor, why not?" So I watched it with my brother. Let me say that I thought it was going to be a little cheesy and off. Although, now, after viewing, this film is fantastic! Wonderful plot and story, and I adored the transformation in the characters. Espcially the fatherliness at the end (with Basil himself, not Basil's father). Far better than I expected, and I even found myself yelling blasphemies at the TV at times. Lol. It was THAT good. LESSON LEARNED: NEVER JUDGE A MOVIE BEFORE WATCHING. ESPECIALLY WHEN STARRING JL. |

| User ReviewT GI was actually surprised how much I liked this movie. It takes place in history - and looks beautifully like one. The people, clothes, speech, manners, surroundings... It is all well done and detailed. The plot itself is rather clever, at least on a first watch (like a snake suffocating on its own tail, as was stated in the movie), and Jared's role as "Basil" is not something pretty to watch - which makes the movie all the more human. Almost so human it is disgusting. |
