Sydney Morning HeraldGiles HardieThe worst cliche in Australian cinema is that we have so many Australian stories that need to be told. Normally it is tripe. In the case of Balibo, they actually found one.
Matt's Movie ReviewsMatthew PejkovicBALIBO is a gritty political thriller, based on a hardly spoken international incident which held strong repercussions in Australia, and is sure to hit a raw nerve upon its release.
FILMINK (Australia)Erin FreeAn incredible film with a well crafted script, beautiful cinematography and a touching story that exposes a deep anger and sorrow.
Eye for FilmAmber WilkinsonDespite Balibo's structural instability, Connolly still manages to find plenty of poignancy and to gather an emotional head of steam
MovieTime, ABC Radio NationalJulie RiggBalibo is a strong film, and Connolly's best to date. Despite the plaudits of many of my fellow critics, it's not a perfect film...but it's a bloody good one.

User ReviewMaxcom Rsimply breathtaking, a great movie with a story that needs to be heard
User ReviewRoy FBalibo is a shocking, powerful and true story that gave me a tear in my eyes the first film of 2010 to do that. This is a tragic film that is very powerful so if you emotion you are going to feel very sad to what happens to these journlists. but also the style that use for flashbacks is great this grainy 70's look is great i really liked it. some very shocking scenes like the ending and what happens to east and what he says. the acting is amazing and makes this film more poswerful. This story had to be told and its a very sad story with shocky scenes and being Australian them scenes really hurt me inside but a film that should be watched.
