Financially hard-pressed, the good-hearted but gullible coffee-shop owner, Thimios Papachatzis, arrives in Athens to ask his twin brother and famous actor, Kostas Papachatzis, for a loan. In high hopes that he will soon manage to marry his sweetheart, Pagona, Thimios pays a visit to his sibling not a moment too soon, as Kostas faints and collapses on stage before a speechless audience.
