With the original intention of empowering a citizenry's ability to defend themselves against a corrupt or tyrannical government, the concept today may seem farfetched or the makings of a Hollywood blockbuster. However, it has happened throughout U.S. history. And long before gun control was positioned as a "common sense measure" to combat violence, it was used as a means to oppress certain minority groups. Presently, the growing trend in gun control favors the wealthy and privileged, who leverage their connections to ensure their Second Amendment rights and safety, while those of lesser means struggle. Informative and emotionally charged, "Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire" is an eye-opening look at the genesis of the Second Amendment to the Constitution, leading the audience to rethink the issues surrounding gun control, and the effect on civil rights and liberty. After all, what you don't know can kill you.
Leave your thoughts about Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire.
Village VoiceErnest HardyA surprisingly thoughtful, well-researched attempt to give both sides of the argument respect while illuminating the long history of tensions surrounding gun ownership in America.
Los Angeles TimesGlenn WhippAssaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire is a reasoned counter to Michael Moore's "Bowling for Columbine" and, as such, a constructive addition to the current national firearms debate.
The New York TimesAnita GatesLike so much of current polarized communication, “Assaulted,” wherever it is shown, is likely to be preaching to the choir.
User ReviewJeff UThis film is a great look into the second amendment. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
User ReviewJames LWorth watching. It has many facts that many people don't know. I'd bet that 98%+ have never heard of the 1946 Battle of Athens in Tennessee. I don't remember hearing of it until a year or two ago. Support the NRA and the Second Amendment Foundation while there is still a chance to save our RIGHTS guaranteed in our Constitution.
User ReviewPriscilla KI was expecting a bit of red neck attitude but was treated to a very I intellig ent , educational and thought provoking view on gun laws and our civil rights. it reaffirmed my concerns as well as give me more talking points to speak to Anti gun people. Being reminded how quickly our society can break down I am once again glad we keep a bug out bag in both our cars... Everyone in this country on both sides of the fence should see this film. My only question .... NRA .. Where are you ? You should be backing this film with some of that money I donate to your cause.
User ReviewJaz MThis movie should be seen by everyone in America. This is a no holds barred attempt to point out the stupidity of those who decry that more gun restrictions on law abiding citizens will do nothing to curb violence or crime in America and I fell they do a great job of that. Assaulted also presents the case that gun ownership is a "civil right" and I think that the history lesson they present makes that point clear. It's a film I highly recommend for gun owners to take a liberal, progressive gun grabber with you to see. Tell your friend or co-worker who thinks that more gun laws will stop violence to this movie with the promise of a dinner after words and it just may set them straight.
User ReviewTony Tami WThis movie to me is one that needs to be viewed by everyone that feels the Second Amendment is no longer viable. If once you see how fast society can breakdown after a natural or man-made disaster and become lawless not only by the populace but also by those supposedly in authority over us ie; New Orleans during and after Katrina where law enforcement appeared completely out of control, you had better think twice.
User ReviewLaura MA must see for all. It's not just a "preaching to the choir" kind of film but rather a highly educational and entertaining look at our history using modern events rather than just our founding history.
User ReviewAlex SThis show has some great information on our 2A rights. A must see.
