User ReviewSarah SI can't really remember if I liked it or not but it was the first time I ever saw Dennis Quaid so I am giving it 5 stars. :)
| User ReviewJennifer T" Original and Good, You would have see movies like this, But this was the first". Are You in the House Alone was Released in the Late 1970's. It is a very well done Horror Film, and actually reminded me of Wes Craven's " Scream" film. It is a Movie about a teenage girl that starts to get these prank calls from this random guy., At first it sounded like a joke until He rang Over and Over again and than started saying harsh things to her. One night she Babysits, and out of the blue this guy calls the house that she is babysitting at., She answers the phone and the Guy says " Are You In the House Alone?". And it sounded like the exact same voice from the " Scream" Movie. Hmmm, It sounds like Scream isint so Original After All. She than hangs the Phone up and than goes and checks on the children to see if they are ok. Than someone knocks at the door, She answers it, And then From that Point on the Movie gets Exciting. I Thought this Film was very good, and I Couldnt help but laugh at how much New Horror Films have taken ideas from this Movie., Movies such as " Scream" and " I Know What You Did Last Summer". This film is interesting and through some points of the film you might be like " Aye havent i seen this Before?", Becuase it looks Similar to a few Horror Movies, But remember this film was the first that did it. | User ReviewNicki MI can't tell anyone. They won't believe me. Gail is a high school teenager that routinely goes on double dates with her best friend that leads to her making out for a long time with her high school crush. However, she never wants to take it the distance and have sex. She begins getting plagued by crank calls that no one takes seriously; however, as the calls continue, it becomes more apparent her caller is on his way to her house... "I am getting closer." Walter Grauman, director of Nightmare on the 13th Floor, Outrage, Covenant, Cover Up, The Untouchables (1959), 633 Squadron, and Pleasure Palace, delivers Are you in the House Alone. The storyline for this picture is actually fairly interesting and unfolds well. The acting is solid and believable and the few thriller scenes are dramatic. The cast delivers solid performances and includes Dennis Quaid, Blythe Danner, Tony Bill, Robin Mattson, Alan Fudge, and Ellen Travolta. "I want you to have it all!" I came across this movie on Netflix and had to add it to my queue (I honestly thought I had already seen it but I hadn't). This was fairly good as I liked the characters and how they were presented. This wasn't particularly intense, but it unfolds well and I liked how it concluded. This is definitely worth a viewing. "He raped me!" Grade: C+ |
User ReviewTim Sits a average movie, the ending was a little fast but it had decent acting and an ok storyline. worth watching if you like thrillers.
User ReviewOrlando DThe TV movie Are You in the House Alone? has the setup of a thriller, with it's title and the story of a teenage girl being harassed while babysitting. It's more of a Afterschool Special about rape instead. Kathleen Beller(Kirby on TV's Dynasty) is very good as Gail, a pretty teen who's family moves to a small town outside of San Francisco to get away from the crime of the big city. But maybe the city is not so bad afterall as Gail is getting calls from a heavy breather and notes inside her locker. She wants to tell her parents but they have their own issues going on(the subplot is so TV movies and not effective.)then she talks to the principal(Ellen Travolta, who acts overcaffinated.)Sadly, Gail gets raped as she is babysitting by someone she knows. The acting is really good, Dennis Quaid, in a early performance, had star quality about him. The story is well written and not bad for a TV movie from the 70's.

User ReviewBill BOkay, so I went into this expecting a horror slasher or something of that nature, not a made for TV rape drama, so I may've judged the film more harshly than necessary, but it just wasn't what I was looking for. Rental, at best.
