Leave your thoughts about An L.A. Minute.
Los Angeles TimesKatie WalshThe salt in the wound of this painfully out-of-touch film is the footage of real L.A. homeless camps and people, as if the film were saying something trenchant about the issue. What a gross misunderstanding of this glib story about a rich man who steals stories and inspiration from struggling people.
Film ThreatAyurella Horn-MullerIt doesn’t serve up the belly laughter or lightheartedness expected of the genre, at least in the traditional sense. Nor is there a satisfying ending that would align it snugly into the dramatic grouping. What it does do is excel in outright mockery of a persistent cultural issue. Primarily, the ignorance of those immersed in affluence towards the plight of their suffering neighbors.
Film InquiryAdriana Gomez-WestonAn L.A. Minute proves that Kiersey Clemmons is a leading lady. She drives the film with her fearless performance.
New York TimesGlenn KennyThat such a woebegone project attracted such a largely first-rate cast is peculiar but not inexplicable; sometimes the urge to bite the hand that feeds you overwhelms your quality control filter.
The Hollywood ReporterFrank ScheckAn L.A. Minute simply recycles clichés in an unconvincing matter that smacks more of sitcom tropes than the big screen.
Village VoiceKristen Yoonsoo KimDaniel Adams’s An L.A. Minute makes you suffer through it all and never redeems itself, despite the potentially interesting duo of Gabriel Byrne and Kiersey Clemons as leads. The stars seem out of place with each other and in this movie, with creators who have no idea what they want to say.
User ReviewLily MReally great film. Great performances. Kiersey Clemons is a phenom. I laughed throughout.
User ReviewDavid GJust saw an early screening of this film, and I don't understand how the critics can be so wrong. It was very funny and told the truth. The acting was great and so was the writing. I, for one, highly recommend this film if you like satire.
User ReviewDavid%20 GGlad I didn't listen to the PC reviewers who failed to understand that the writers of this movie were equal opportunity offenders. This is a savage look at Hollywood, star making machinery, performance art, with a little dig at the #MeToo overreachers. Gabriel Byrne and Kiersey Clemons are awesome and Bob Balaban nails his character perfectly. The idiot reviewers who didn't understand why the underbelly of L.A. was shown should be consigned to writing reviews of the Rock's next hundred movies. This was one and a half hours of sheer enjoyment. Laughed my ass off.
User ReviewMarkHebetI loved this movie. It was clever, well written, and Kiersey Clemons and Gabriel Byrne gave great performances. Very topical too. I recommend it.
