Objecting to his wife's plan to pay $23.40 for forty apple pies to take to a charity bazaar, Edgar sets about to show her how he can make them for 10 cents each. After many mishaps he does make 40 pies that cost a lot more than $23.40. And with 40 pies in the kitchen it is inevitable that he would get into an argument with his know-it-all neighbor which quickly turns into a pie-throwing contest and a fire and the firemen arrive to join in the melee....
