SF Weekly - 8/10 by Sherilyn ConnellyAmerican Anarchist makes the interesting choice of saving Powell's difficult childhood for the end, and while it was tragic, most people with difficult childhoods didn't go on to write books about how to make bombs.
Chicago Reader - 8/10 by J. R. Jones[Powell] comes off as a tragic figure: a teacher haunted by his most spectacular lesson, and a man of learning who, where his own guilt was concerned, took care not to learn too much.
Detroit News - 7/10 by Adam Graham"American Anarchist" is an interesting look at accountability on several different levels.
User Review - 10/10 by Aaron I5 stars for William Powell one star for the interviewer Charlie. William Powell wrote the anarcist cookbook mainly from sources that were held at the library that were made by the military. Everyone who is upset over this 19 year old writing the anarcarist cookbook needs to be equally upset over the military industrial complex that is equally responsible. The documentary is great and you will choose a side while watching.
User Review - 8/10 by Greg HSome disingenuous moments from both subject and interviewer (Gene Siskel's nephew Charlie Siskel). Nevertheless, it's hard to resist watching the exploration of Anarchist's Cookbook and its place in numerous tragedies worldwide.

User Review - 8/10 by Ian RFascinating character study but the director really pushes his idea that the writer is responsible for things like Columbine and should feel terrible about it It gets in the way but overall worth checking out.
User Review - 8/10 by Jeffrey RI'm sorry this Siskel guy (the interviewer) has really made it difficult to let the audience make their own opinions. He's basically interrogating Powell from his own biased opinions. Powell has separated himself from the book and has lived his own life trying to do good. All that Siskell is doing is trying to make him feel guilty and make try to make all these connections. A completely biased "documentary."
User Review - 6/10 by Tony FAn informative and somewhat entertaining documentary where the only downside being in the biased and inflammatory line of questioning coming from interviewer and director Charlie Siskel.
User Review - 4/10 by Roosa KAn interesting story but not that good of a document.
