Surya is the traditional, moral minded person who envisions his life in India with all its customes, traditions & emotional connect with the people whom he lives with. Bhumika is the bridge that connects both Shashank and Surya who have ideological differences and poles apart in their views. She holds their friendship together and helps significantly in their personal growth.

| User ReviewBenoît RIl y a quelque chose de très émouvant dans l'histoire de la famille de Kazan. D'un postulat très personnel, le cinéaste parvient à l'intégrer dans quelque chose d'universel. Premièrement, il y a cette façon de montrer le pogrom réalisé par les Turcs contre les Arméniens. Sans prise de position, en rappelant que les Arméniens eux-mêmes n'étaient pas blanc comme neige même si la réaction turque sera très disproportionnée. Et puis, cette façon de filmer les paysages, le décor, le pittoresque, la culture locale nous plonge dans le bain. De la sorte, et tout au long de l'oeuvre, Kazan rend un superbe hommage à cet oncle et à sa famille, une façon de leur dire merci pour ce qu'il est devenu car sans ce voyage, il aurait probablement vécu d'une toute autre façon. Car, en cette fin du 19e et début du 20e siècle, il fallait se battre pour vivre, être prêt à faire les boulots les plus minables et difficiles pour gagner un peu sa croûte (des misères généralement) et que seul des mariages arrangés pouvaient vous permettre d'avoir une petite fortune. C'est un film superbe sur l'amitié entre Hohannes et Stavros. Le sacrifice du premier est remarquable. Durant 2h50, le spectateur est plongé dans une autre époque, dans un film incroyable, aux scènes très fortes (la dernière danse de l'Arménien ou cette vision de l'Amérique, symbole de nouveaux espoirs) et d'un rendu d'une époque qui n'existera probablement plus jamais de la sorte. |
