User ReviewAl SVery good and full of action with a reasonable story about the undesirables of life. Low life drug dealers and crooked cops.
User ReviewDailiesel Mthis movie is ok, dolph lundgren is great actor for slow movie the end is so so
User ReviewRyan BGood but not great. Since this was my first Dolph Lundgren movie I didn't know what to expect, so I gave it a chance and I was a little surprised that it intrigued me. It had the action vibe going for it but it lacked the heart racing feeling that I get with most action films. It had a good plot and the story had it's twists and it did have my eyes on the screen the whole time. The thing I didn't like about it the most was that the fighting scenes didn't look realistic and the they looked fakish. The acting wasn't great but it did have the potential to be great drug/crooked cop movie, it just lacked a few things. So overall it's worth watching once but after that I wouldn't give it a second look. Hardly recommended
User ReviewSimon CBy-the-numbers drug bust flick. The Dolph is good.
User ReviewTracy FOne line summary: Crime, action-adventure film that needed a better script and plot. --------------------------- Frank starts out with a strip joint in Los Angeles. Frank and Eddie branch out in the drug business. As they attempt to expand in the business, they steal drugs from Vincent Camastra, which was a bad idea. DEA agent Maxwell gets into the scene and takes over from the locals, including the surly Detective Jack Reiley. Jack has a cocaine habit, and he rousts minor dealers for money and cocaine. There's a separate, completely bungled thread about Eddie and his straight, non-criminal girlfriend Ashley. She believes his often ridiculous excuses about long absences, strange acquaintances, and odd injuries. Maxwell's on-the-job relationship with Beverly was not skillfully written either. That only served to show Maxwell had an extra motivator for the violent ending: Beverly goes undercover, and her life is at risk. Vincent convinces Frank and Eddie that he is upset, and demands some money in two days. Eddie tells Frank that he wants to back up to just doing his strip club after they do a job for Vincent. Jack researches Frank, then attempts to hold him up for money in his strip club. It's Frank's club, and he and his bouncers beat the nonsense out of him, take his gun, and shoot him through the hand. There is plenty of setup for lots of violence to bring resolution. Will Maxwell and his team get Vincent? Will Frank and Eddie square things up with Vincent? Will Jack get his revenge on Frank? Will Jack's boss at LAPD cut short his career, or will Internal Affairs get him first? -----Scores------- Cinematography: 9/10 Nicely shot; only a little bit of shaky camera work. Sound: 9/10 Good. Acting: 2/10 Pretty bad, all around, no real exceptions. A better script would have helped a lot here. Screenplay: 4/10 Has a beginning, middle, and end. The plot threads progressed to more or less logical conclusions. However, a lot of the dialog is almost campy, and motivations were weak.
User ReviewAlex Saka Hard Rush A cheap looking action flick with a couple of well known faces (Dolph Lundgren, Vinnie Jones and Randy Couture). They're barely in the film, it's unfortunately more focused on two unknowns that are so boring and unnecessary, it puts you to sleep. So yeah, it promises to be a action flick starring the 3 actors I've already mentioned, and you get to follow two pointless unknowns instead. Randy Couture is actually better in this than he is in Expendables because he is given more dialogue, despite not in the film as much.
User ReviewPhil HNo idea what the title for this cheap drug dealer action drama is, supposedly 'Hard Rush' but comes up as 'Ambushed' on IMDb. Not that it really matters though, the first of a trilogy of films starring Lundgren and Vinnie Jones that have been rolled out in 2013 from some tacky straight to DVD company. The casting in these films is pretty good amazingly, its like a collection of mini expendables with Davi, Cung Le, Billy Zane and Couture all popping up. Easy quick work and money for these guys obviously, Jones has been in tonnes of these flicks! literately tonnes! and he plays the same character everytime! The plot is errr sorta about some drug dealers trying to strike it big and errrrrrrm Jones is the big boss on the block...oh geez I dunno. Its an epic muddle of characters none of which I cared about at all and I couldn't follow who was trying to double cross who. The predictable finale shoot out is so confusing I gave up, everyone shoots everyone, police, undercover agents, dealers etc...No idea what happened to Jones in all this, his character just vanishes despite lots of threatening threats to the main characters. Its not all terrible though, some of the visuals are well shot and its all been pieced together in a rather slick way. That's it though, the fights are awful, Dolph looks tired and slow whilst Jones is the boring sadistic unbeatable bad guy. The main two characters are wholly unlikeable, one is a smartass who I really wanted to see get beaten, the other is a cheap Scottish budget version of David Schwimmer! I kid you not, his name is Gianni Capaldi, Google him, the dude is a dead ringer for Schwimmer. I know these cheap action flicks are suppose to be guilty pleasure type stuff with lots of gratuitous violence and gun porn...but what went wrong here?! This film offers nothing of what I just said, maybe a bit of ass and that's it, Dolph isn't even in it much for Pete's sake! What a complete waste of time.
