EmanuelLevy.Com - 8/10 by Emanuel LevyA senseless romantic espionage fails to recreate the chemistry that Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford had in the noir Gilda, but Hayworth looks glamorous in Jean Louis Oscar-nominated wardrobe.
Ozus' World Movie Reviews - 6/10 by Dennis SchwartzThis tired tropical thriller is another attempt at making a Gilda.
User Review - 10/10 by Bruce BAnother one of those movies on the list from the Ross Elliott List on IMBD Data Base. Even though he only played Corpse of Neal Emery, thel late husband of Rita Hayworth, in this movie, I guess his part lasted all of 12 sceonds if that. But it introduced me to the acting of not only the Beautiful ms Hayworth but it showed me a side of Glenn Ford I never saw before, I just wasn't used to seeing Gleen duke it out with someone. Its a great movie, Rita Hayworth's husband while living in Tridad is found dead, the first report is suicided but we all know that doesn't make a movie, only murder does, So in the movie we track who the killer was, and yes even this many years after WWII we are still trying to connect the German's with the plot of overthrowing the USA, gee what ever happen to than and how much money was wasted, kind of like the Terriost threat of today. anyway its a great movie, Rita shows her talent and beauty. Buy it, rent it, borrow it but most of all see it. 5 Stars
User Review - 8/10 by David T"Affair in Trinidad" If you liked the teaming of Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford in "Gilda", then you'll like this one too. It's pretty close to the same movie. Rita plays Chris Emery, a night club singer in Trinidad, who's Husband is found dead under suspicious circumstances. Steve Emery, played by Glenn Ford, arrives in Trinidad, only to find out that his Brother is dead and the local courts seem to think it was a suicide instead of an obvious murder. Chris Emery is asked to go undercover by the local police and investigate an X-Nazi, the man who is fond of her, and may have also killed her husband, while Steve Emery is suspicious, jealous, and falling in love with his Sister-in-law. He is trying to get at the truth on his own and it seems to be drawn to the Wife and this man that she is seeing. Rita Hayworth gets to do a couple of hot singing and dancing numbers, and Glenn Ford gets to do some shooting and fist-a-cuffs.
User Review - 8/10 by Gilberte OFave line: "Everything thrives in the tropics, especially gossip"
User Review - 8/10 by Ken DVery similar to Hitchcock's 'Notorious' and at times it almost feels like a remake. But let me tell you, I liked 'Affair in Trinidad' much more - I found it more suspenseful and entertaining.
User Review - 6/10 by Donna REnjoyable 50's noir-flavoured thriller/romance--Rita makes a hot spy!!
User Review - 6/10 by James HGood in it's own right, but the similarities to "Gilda" are too hard to ignore. Fine cast, Rita is quite ravishing. The costumes are great and the art direction is excellent too. Entertaining.
User Review - 6/10 by Ken SPretty typical WW2 Espionage flick, but Rita and Glenn's chemistry here doesn't even approach what they had in Gilda. Fans of Hayworth will enjoy the dance sequences. Also contains the gem of a line "Didn't you used to write articles about the V2 rocket before the war?"
User Review - 6/10 by Bill TWatchable but weak imitation of the far superior "Gilda". Rita and Glenn try to rekindle their old magic in this otherwise routine film noir.
