EmanuelLevy.ComEmanuel LevyJohn Huston directeds this enjoyable WWII feature, which reunites the Maltese Falcon stars, Bogart, Mary Astor, and Sydney Greenstreet.
Video-Reviewmaster.comSteve CrumFine John Huston wartime flick, bolstered by Bogart.
User ReviewConor Rwhat's flixster's problem? Giving this movie three stars is a crime. This was a great flick. I don't think anyone has bigger balls when it comes to women than Bogey.
User ReviewSteven PHumphrey Bogart at his best. Had not seen much of Mary Astor before. I liked her. Terrible hairdo. What happened at the end, Mary forgot about her dead father? And of course Sidney Greenstreet is wonderful.
User ReviewJames HThis film has much to offer - espionage, romance, humor, World War II intrigue, spies, attempted bombings, action, suspense, blackmail, drama, mystery and adventure. A very entertaining mix and very successful. Fast paced, taut direction by John Huston, a great cast with the always good team of Humphrey Bogart, Mary Astor and Sidney Greenstreet. Never a dull moment.
User Reviewdanny dbogey and greenstreet work well together once again in this excellent tale of intrigue. the twists are great and the story is told well in what is an underrated classic helmed by the great john huston.
User ReviewxGary XWhile this movie has its problems, mostly due to attitudes towards the orientals at the time it was made, that it does on occasion defy expected sterotypes. The cast is phenomenal. I can't seem to get enough of Humphrey Bogart at his best and he's terrific. Mary Astor and Sydney Greenstreet are marvelous and it's a lot of fun to see these performers who do so well on the screen again. The ending I felt was slightly problematic and requires suspension of disbelief yet no more so than today's modern action hero films.
User ReviewMara BNot a great thriller storywise but it has a fine cast who give some excellent performances
