As she lay dying, Wallace Layson's mother leaves him in the care of Buck, a halfbreed. Buck raises him as his own son, not telling him of his real identity. As Wallace approaches the age of 21, his real father shows up in order to cheat him out of a ranch he will inherit when he reaches that age.
