Film Journal International - 4/10 by Maria GarciaClever as the commentary may be, you simply don't care what happens to the protagonist.
User Review - 10/10 by Yoav SI think you see those types also at any big company too...
User Review - 8/10 by Nina LA very discrete hero...The movie begins with a little tale by Jean-Louis Trintignant which end is "the most beautiful life you can live is the one you invent"...A coward provincial leaves his little village at the end of WWII to "make it happen": he wants to be a hero although he cannot join the army. In Paris he meets a real soldier who tells him all about the army. Reading newspapers, he starts to invent his life as a French resistant till he becomes a leading light in the ministry of the army. The photography iand the pace of the film are fantastic. A wonderful script for a beautiful story.
User Review - 8/10 by Amelia LThis is a thoroughly entertaining film which cleverly draws attention to the mythological nature of personal and national histories. The story is framed as a documentary, narrated by the older Dehousse (played by Jean-Louis Trintignant), his memories rich in period detail, yet Audiard constantly reminds us that this is a fiction with moments of fantasy, stylized sequences and by cutting back to the chamber ensemble who provide the musical soundtrack. Excellent.
User Review - 8/10 by David LGreat performance from Kassovitz as he burrows deeper and deeper into his own deception.
User Review - 8/10 by Joseph CA thoroughly enjoyable film, hilarious and not mere fluff. The interviews add a playful touch of 'realism'.
User Review - 6/10 by Romain DNothing special really. Strong performance by Kassovitz and a french take on a fairly interesting topic but I certainly wouldnt say it was anything more.
