Leave your thoughts about A Room and a Half.
Film4Simon JablonskiA Room And A Half is a cinematic masterpiece that brings fresh ideas from a wise old head to the big screen.
London Evening StandardDerek Malcolm[An] extraordinary kaleidoscope of a film...
Time OutTrevor JohnstonTrue, [its] hustle and bustle sometimes feels like too much to take in at once, yet its heavy payload of literary quotations, philosophical argument and classical music is also perhaps an act of faith in an intelligent audience.
Little White LiesJason WoodRoom and a Half offers an inventive and intimate portrait both of a great artist and of the post-Second World War cultural world of the Soviet Union.
AV ClubNoel MurrayFor those who can’t abide conventional biopics, here’s a viable alternative: A Room And A Half, a fantastical, imaginative depiction of the life of Nobel-winning Russian poet Joseph Brodsky.
Financial TimesNigel AndrewsThe life of Joseph Brodsky, poet, memoirist, Nobel laureate, is reimagined in a two-hour intertwining of drama, animation and mock documentary.
Time OutJoshua RothkopfSo while his live-action scenes leave much to be desired, Khrzhanovsky fills the margins of A Room and a Half with glorious doodles: yawning cats penning love letters to former flings; spectral violins floating high above the city; spiky silhouettes pouring out of a truck to bring violence to the ghetto.
Filmcritic.comChris Cabinwithout Khrzhanovskiy's artful vitality, Brodsky's life, at the very least, would have looked a dreadful bore and A Room and a Half wouldn't be half as wise or entertaining as it is.
User ReviewPaul DBeautiful film, particularly moving and poignant.
User ReviewPavan RA poetic and artistic movie...a kind of biography sketched with excerpts from the poets life...but concentrating on certain memories which is the essence of life for most of us,mainly our childhood and the 'Nest' as the poet likes to call it..loved the conversations with the parents lending a surreal feel and the cartoon depictions which formed an essence of his memories..humorous yet touching...I think a must watch for all..be patient and watch it through
