NewsBlazeKam WilliamsAn African-American classic every bit as relevant today as when it was first staged.
Groucho ReviewsPeter CanaveseA quintessentially American play, revisited...this one has towering performances from Rashad and McDonald.
New York Magazine/VultureJohn Leonard... Raisin works well on television, like so many other fifties plays that tended toward the Freudian and claustrophobic, with their Munch-scream close-ups and slammed Ibsen doors.
Common Sense MediaAnne Louise BannonThoughtful, play-based drama examines racism.
VarietyDennis HarveyNo one will mistake this well-produced but inevitably dialogue-driven piece for pure cinema, but Leon and adapter Paris Qualles open up the play just enough to avoid the usual stage-to-screen claustrophobia.
User ReviewJoanne Aoutstanding, Oscar worthy, very moving very good ensemble cast i loved every minute of the movie from start to finish it really touched on a lot of things in the 1950s
User ReviewLee MEspectacular! Los dialogos, las actuaciones y toda la trama excelentes. Definitivamente de mis favoritas desde hace años. Si te gusta el drama es un must see.
User ReviewAlana HThe best movie you could possibly watch!! In my opinion
User ReviewJoey NMasterful writing with some truly excellent performances. Really the only downside is the distracting orchestra playing what seemed like continuously in the background. All three women are amazing in their own distinct ways, and Sean Combs, though hardly a marval, holds his own. Interestingly, for me he was more convincing showing his character's flaws than the everday stuff. Phylicia Rashad has a very warm presence and gives a graceful performance. Sanaa Lathan makes what could have been an annoying character in lesser hands and gives her some truth. And Audra McDonald? Loved her. She made me really feel for her trapped, modest, underappreciated housewife. I might make it sound like a heavy-handed contricance, but the film gets by on sheer narrative momentum. A weighty, moving experience about capitalism, racism, family, and integrity in 1950s America.
User ReviewANOINTED & APPOINTEDI LOVED IT!!! PHYLICIA RASHAD WAS SO GOOD... THE CAST MADE IT SO REAL. IT SPEAKS TO PEOPLE TODAY NOT TO LOOSE SIGHT ON THEIR DREAMS, AND NO MATTER WHAT KEEP GOD FIRST AND FOREMOST.
