Movie Reviews

Film Journal International - 9/10 by David NohOzwald Boateng may be the only designer who is more compellingly attractive than any of his models, and this less-than-deep documentary fully captures his undeniable charisma.
CineVue - 8/10 by Joseph WalshAn honest and well-structured documentary - truly engrossing viewing, whether you're aware of Boateng's work or not.
Observer (UK) - 6/10 by Philip FrenchWe learn surprisingly little about his work, his development and what shapes his collections.
Little White Lies - 6/10 by Andy TweddleAnchored by the vibrant Boateng, A Man's Story takes you on an enjoyable, if not tumultuous, ride.
Scotsman - 6/10 by Siobhan SynnotThere's much to enjoy here, even if the documentary fails to unclothe the kind of striking fashionista insights that made The September Issue so compelling.
Time Out - 4/10 by Anna SmithFashion fans may find 'A Man's Story' interesting, but even they may be disappointed by the lack of insight into the man and his process.
Empire Magazine - 4/10 by Eve BarlowTiresome puff piece about Ozwald Boateng that you'd actually need to be Ozwald Boateng to enjoy.
ViewLondon - 4/10 by Isabel StevensHanging out with Ozwald Boateng for 98 minutes feels far too long as he is rarely probes about either himself or his profession, and as a result his film often resembles a drawn-out reality TV show.
Guardian - 2/10 by Peter BradshawIt's Zoolander without the laughs; a corporate video in the guise of a documentary, unfailingly delighted to let Boateng hold forth on the glory of Boateng.
User Review - 10/10 by Robbie RCOMPELLED TO WRITE - THIS FILM IS DA BOMB - THE CRITICS ARE TOTAL BUNCH OF PAMPERED WHITE MEN AND OR JERKS. THIS DOC ROCKS. OZWALD BOATENG A STAR OF LIFE AND THIS MOVIE HAS CHANGED MY UNIVERSE. SEE THIS MOVIE SEE THIS MOVIE SEE THIS MOVIE. RR
