A young Jewish girl looking to escape the clutches of the Third Reich after seeing her parents and sister brutally slain while attempting to make their way to England is sheltered by an old friend whose status as a member of the "third" sex soon leads the Gestapo pounding on his door as well. Betrayed by a smuggler who sat idly by as her family was casually slaughtered by the SS, terrified Sara flees into the comforting care of childhood summer-vacation chum Jean and his faithful lover Philippe. Though safe for the moment thanks to Jean's quick-thinking plan to pass her off as a Gallic employee of his family's laundry business, Sara watches in horror as her homosexual protector is forced into a Nazi labor camp as a tragic result of a bad decision made by Jean's troublesome brother Jacques.

User ReviewChris TA great eye-opener, but make sure you have box of tissues and somebody to hold you.
User ReviewCthonus CThis is a truly hidden and obscure gem. Surprisingly brilliant. It's a shame that very few people have watched this outside of France. Hollywood is not capable of doing a movie this good. Highly recommended viewing.
User ReviewMC Lpart of WW2 history that they tend to ignore...
User ReviewAnn MThis is a great war movie, but do not expect a happy one. Very underrated, everybody should watch it. Also the non gay's.

User ReviewJarryd RAn extremely powerful movie. Gut wrentching at times, but beautifully filmed with great acting.
User ReviewRafael PThis movie takes you on a journey that will have you falling in love the characters and have you on the edge of your seat hoping for the best. Its a powerful emotional journey.
User ReviewDaniel CI would seem that recapping the tragedies of German occupied Europe during WWI once again makes a great film. I may have been distracted by subtitles, but the writing and acting were very substantial. It is also nice to be reminded that the Third Reich persecuted a variety of different peoples.
User ReviewMartijn WFinally I got to see this incredible powerful movie. Jeremy Renier is really one of my favorite actors, he can convince everyone in almost any role. This movie shows us how important is to always stay alert and that betrayal and love are very close. Nothing is as black and white as we like things to be. Must see movie....
User ReviewBrian FEXCELLENT MOVIE! I highly recommend you see this movie. A gay love story and more that takes place in France during the Nazi rule of Germany. Very touching and emotional movie. The movie is in French with English subtitles.
