Van Vlahakis left Greece five decades ago with 22 dollars in his pocket. He arrived in the US hoping for a better future for him and his family. Eftichios as is his Greek name not only managed to live the American dream for himself, but also created Earth Friendly Products, a US giant for environmentally friendly cleaning products. His story is not only about transforming his life but also the lives of the ones around him as the owner and CEO of Earth Friendly Products. The story centers on the modern day Vlahakis (played by Ed O'Ross), who is diagnosed with cancer and given only few months to live. During this time, he reflects on his early life as an immigrant (played by George Finn) during the 1950's and ultimately decides to push himself to the limit by closing one final business deal that will concretize his company's success, even if it means taking on a large corporation that is trying to take over his company.

Movie Reviews

Film Journal International - 6/10 by David NohA highly admiring documentary might have been preferable to this highly admiring feature which paints a blandly noble portrait of a worthy pioneer in the ecology business.
Los Angeles Times - 6/10 by Gary GoldsteinThough it's not that gracefully told and sometimes seems to exist just to plug eco-friendly cleaning supplies, A Green Story holds interest as a gentle, old-fashioned look at achieving the American dream.
The New York Times - 3/10 by David DeWittThis stately film lays out the good, the bad, the sad and the proud in stark patterns, to mostly soporific effect.
Village Voice - 3/10 by Pete Vonder HaarVlahakis's tale should be compelling, but a weak script and mostly dull performances (one exception: Billy Zane . . . I know!) make A Green Story more monotonous than mythic.
Slant Magazine - 3/10 by Andrew SchenkerWriter-director Nika Agiashvili buys into the concept of the American dream with the zeal of a true believer.
New York Daily News - 2/10 by Elizabeth WeitzmanThere probably is an interesting story in Van’s rags-to-riches tale. But all we get in this extended publicity stunt is clichéd filmmaking, stilted performances and a self-aggrandizing hero.
