User ReviewAmanda CI'm giving this high marks despite the sometimes cliché script because of so many things. For starters it is my favourite Sophia Loren film and it is for those who love fun, innocent trifles about Americans going to European countries with monarchies and doing zany things. The costumes, sets, lighting and postcard beautiful photography are largely down to the legendary George Hoyningen-Huene and were executed by Ella Bei of the Knize fashion house. These costumes are unrivalled in detail and beauty and seeing some of them on the flawless and quintessential hourglass figure of Sophia Loren is dazzling. Angela Lansbury and Isabel Jeans are magnificent and of course Chevalier. Once again it is my most favourite Sophia film and in my top ten so it has a very special place in my heart.
User ReviewAlvin Ba must-see film!!! sophia is so ravishingly beautiful in this movie. a true classic for me!

User ReviewJawaher AA lovely comedy filled with delightful dialogues.
User ReviewSteve SSophia Loren delights in this period romantic comedy of a banished princess who after scandalous adventures gets accepted back to court to marry a prince after falling for American millionaire John Gavin. Gavin is so handsome and awkward and wooden in this film that he reminded me of Mitt Romney. Loren is delicious at there is ample support from Maurice Chevalier and Isable Jeans as her parents. Angela Lansbury is also great in another of her stock evil bitch roles. Exteriors are beautifully photographed in Vienna.
User ReviewBob VFluffy comedy, Sophia is beautiful, Angela is wonderfully sneaky, Chevalier suave but Gavin is his usual handsome cigar store indian and its the film's fatal flaw. Opulent settings though help make it a pleasant diversion.
