NYC Movie Guru - 6/10 by Avi OfferWell-edited, captivating, fair and easy-to-follow, but it's ultimately not balanced enough to rise above more searing, powerful and haunting docs like Food, Inc. and Super Size Me.
The New York Times - 5/10 by Neil GenzlingerIt’s a net broadly cast and woven of implications rather than of indisputable evidence, but — especially given the tobacco industry’s credibility problems — you’ll probably be inclined to think there’s some truth to the film’s allegations.
The Hollywood Reporter - 4/10 by John DeForeJust as one should be wary of tobacco-safety data produced with tobacco-industry money, skeptical audiences will have a hard time putting too much stock in a doc so strongly aligned with vape entrepreneurs.
Los Angeles Times - 4/10 by Kimber MyersA Billion Lives employs a variety of experts in relaying its message, but it sometimes feels like a statistic-filled, 95-minute commercial for the vaping industry rather than a feature-length documentary.
Village Voice - 3/10 by Daphne HowlandDemonstrating an egregious contempt for science, Biebert and his subjects attack the call for research into the effects of electronic cigarettes as nothing more than shilling for tax collectors and Big Pharma.
User Review - 10/10 by Ray YI'm a former smoker and at some point accepted smoking was going to kill me some day. David Goerlitz phrased it for me in this film, when he stated because . " nobody cares " There are millions more just like me wishing we could have quit. Suddenly the phenomena " vaping " changes the centuries old ritual of smoking in a flash. Safer, acceptable, enjoyable, no harm to others and so much more healthier. Sadly though, is seems still " nobody cares" Until they see this film. So many have tried to block it's progress of distribution and promotion. So many others just sat back and did nothing without realizing it was produced by those just coming into the next generation. The innovators, the critiques, entrepreneurs who did the homework it take in seeking the truth. Look out world..... things are going to change whether you " care " or not. Top ratings for A Billion Lives.
User Review - 10/10 by Danette BI am glad to finally see something about the plight of the vaping industry. I was a 45 yr smoker and nothing I used from big pharma helped me stop till I tried vaping. I am now one year smoke free.. I am so glad I am no longer a dollar sign for Pharma and tobacco
User Review - 10/10 by Benoit DTrès bon documentaire qui va déranger les autorités sanitaires et association "anti-tabac" de beaucoup de pays qui vive sur les morts du tabac (Big Pharma - Big Tobaccco - OMS)
User Review - 10/10 by Albert HExceptional documentary that demonstrates what big tobacco, and the government doesn't want you to know. I feel this film created a clear picture of what everyone needs to know. If you are a smoker, it's absolutely a must see.
User Review - 10/10 by Christopher HWhile top critics ignore the end credits which clearly states who declined interviews (i.e. "the other side of the story") this documentary speaks volumes of truth about the relationship that Big Tobacco and Public Health have developed. The vaping industry is in danger of being decimated and handed over to Big Tobacco for the tax money. It's a simple story with a complicated background. Many new studies released after the making of the film bolster the argument that vapor products are a harm reduction product that should not be treated as tobacco. The cast and crew did an amazing job exposing the truth here and it's definitely worth a watch whether you're a smoker, vaper or neither.
