Conquerors of the Useless follows Jeff Johnson as he retraces the epic 1968 journey of his heroes Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins to Patagonia. Along the way he gets shipwrecked off Easter Island, surfs the longest wave of his life - and prepares himself for a rare ascent of Cerro Corcovado. | User ReviewBBolderThis film is either heavy and ponderous, or reverential, I'm not sure which. Cinematography is lovely and professional, a pleasant change from most "adventure" flicks, and soundtrack is domineering but also pleasant. Everything about it is extremely slow: music, camera, people, all moving slow. The subject is the same but the style is the exact opposite of adventure films. I'm not sure what it is. |
