Fernando E. Solanas was born in 1936 in Olivos, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Fernando Ezequiel 'Pino' Solanas is an Argentine film director, screenwriter and politician. His films include La hora de los hornos (The Hour of the Furnaces) (1968), Tangos: the exile of Gardel (1985), Sur (1988), The voyage (1992), cloud (1998) and Memory of the sack (2004), among many others. Since 2013, he has been a National Senator representing the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
