Poul Glargaard was born in 1942 in Randers, Danmark. Poul Glargaard (Rasmussen) would originally like to have been a journalist and had in his time also got space on the island of Ærø Folkeblad, but after his training and debut at Aarhus Theatre as dansekavaler in "The merry Widow", it was instead skuespilfaget. He was a student at the Aarhus Theatre and the Elevskole 1964-66 and after the study trip to London, he came then to the Aalborg Theatre, where he debuted in "My Crazy Mother's Hobby". Here he met also actress Inger Gleerup, as he got a daughter together with. But from 1969 it was in the copenhagen scenes, in revyerne as well as in films and tv that Poul Glargaard really broke through. He played a number of classical roles, and had fol.a. engagements at The new Theatre, and played on Klaus Paghs tour Bernard in "Girls in the sky" and the third party is Wilson in "Harvey". Poul Glargaard appeared in Tivoli, on Greenland and in the revues bl.a. at Lindenborg Kro with his show "On the Rocks". On TV, he was especially known as Severinsen in the tv christmas calendar "Christmas in Gammelby" and the role as the unpleasant stepfather Arthur in the series "Everybody loves Debbie". He had fol.a. roles in My sister's children fall over the city", "the Prairie tough guys", "Me and the Mafia" and in several Olsen Gang-movies. In addition to aiding in Danish films, he was also with in 5 English and american films, on fol.a. "Every Afternoon". He was also known as the voice on a number of gyserhistorier, which was originally recorded on cassette, but later was re-released on cd. Poul Glargaard had more or less withdrawn from the theatre of the world and instead spend more effort on the painting, as well as occasional performances as a comedian and entertainer with his own one-man-shows. He got in the 1988 prize as "best Dirch" for his "Two man show".
