Perico Sambeat was born in 1962 in Godella, Spain. Started in music at six years old, and from 1980 he began playing the saxophone self-taught. He moved to Barcelona in 1982, where he concluded his studies of classical flute at the time that begins the jazz at the Taller de Músics de Barcelona, where he studied harmony and arrangements with Zé Eduardo. In 1991 he moved to New York and enrolls at the New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music, where he played with masters such as Lee Konitz, Jimmy Cobb or Joe Chambers. His prolific career has led to him playing at festivals and clubs around the world and to record a score of jobs as a leader, which may include "Uptown Dance" with Mike Mossman Quintet,"Crossing Paths" with Gerardo Núñez, "New York-Barcelona Crossing"and "Friendship" with Brad Mehldau, "Flamenco Big Band" or the two albums recorded with the "CMS Trio" along with Javier Colinay Marc Miralta. He has also participated in almost a hundred recordings with artists such as Bernardo Sassetti, Júlio Resende, Bob Sands, Chris Kase, George Colligan, Chano Domínguez, Lluis Vidal, Llibert Fortuny, Toni Belenguer, Javier Colina, Albert Sanz and Jon Robles, among others. In addition he has worked with musicians of international fame such as Pat Metheny, Fred Hersch, Brad Mehldau, Mark Turner, Steve Lacy, Michael Brecker, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Maria Schneider,Daniel Humair or Kenny Wheeler. Among his more recent projects, stands out his album "Ballads", published in 2011, and recorded in quartet with Bernardo Sassetti, Javier Hill and Borja Barrueta. In the autumn of 2012 they released "Elàstic", a new recording that represents the premiere recording of a quintet international formed by the battery american Jeff Ballard, pianist belgian Eric Legnini, the guitarist Portuguese André Fernandes and bassist French Thomas Bramerie.
