Patrick Chauvel was born in 1949 in Paris, France. He is the grandson of the ambassador Jean Chauvel, the son of the journalisteJean-François Chauvel, and the nephew of the writer and filmmaker Pierre Schoendoerffer. Of Viet Nam in his youth in Libya, Patrick Chauvel has covered numerous conflicts in which it has brought back many photographs and documentaries. He has also written three books on his experiences : Facilitators of war (2003), Sky (2005) and the Pumps Ricardo Jesus (2012). Isabel Ellsen, another reporter wrote of him : Chauvel is without any doubt the photographer the most brave, the most generous and the most hilarious that I know of. Chauvel is a genuine adventurer. It is also Orangina, summarizing my godson, to say rocked the fort, waved a long, frapadingue, barge, shaken mentally. His body is a huge scar to him alone. Injured a countless number of times, his face is scarred all over, and two bullets of M16 fired at point-blank range by two Marines morons of the u.s. army in Panama a few months earlier did not help geography interesting to his body. In 2009, Patrick Chauvel is a new use of the photograph by building a series of photomontages that replacing the images of war in the center of Paris, in cutting out of the elements extracted from his photographs of war, in Lebanon, in Chechnya or in Iraq, for the inlay near the iconic images of the city (Pantheon, Arc de Triomphe, etc). By the visual shock it produces on the mind of the spectators, Chauvel intends to recall the fragility of the peace, in an educational objective. He has collaborated in 2011 with the project of Danfung Dennis "Condition One" which works to enrich the journalism of image using augmented reality and visual immersion. For this it is Libya, to the sides of the fighters anti-Gaddafi in march 2011.
