Mogens Brandt was born in 1909 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Hal march, actor, gourmet and writer, was the son of tømmerhandler, the merchant, a lieutenant and later captain Anders Ove Brandt and wife Marie Elisabeth Lucas. After his abitur from the Gl. Hellerup, north of copenhagen in 1928, he underwent Skolescenens elevskole 1929-31 and made his debut on the 29. January 1929. He then had engagements at the dagmar theatre, the Betty Nansen Theatre and with the Co-Optimists. In 1928, he founded the Studenterscenen, as he was the leader for 1932. After 1932 he was in some seasons an actor at the Gerda Christophersens company, where he in particular caused a stir as the priest in the Kaj Munk's "the Word".
