Josefina Díaz was born in 1891. One of the great ladies of the theater in the first third of the TWENTIETH century, contemporary of Margarita Xirgu and Rosario Pino. Daughter of the actors Concepción González and Manuel Díaz de la Haza, and sister of the actor Manuel Díaz González. Was formed in the Company of María Guerrero and Fernando Díaz de Mendoza, with whom she premiered, among others, The lady with an ermine (1922), deLuis Fernández Ardavín and The range of Lady Windermere(1920), by Oscar Wilde. He started to stand from 1924, when he started Lessons of good love, of Jacinto Benavente and performed The genius cheerful of the Brothers Alvarez Quintero. A year later, these authors relied on it for the premiere of The wedding Quinita Flores. Formed own company with her husband, Santiago Artigas, and premiered by, among others, works of Eduardo Marquina (blessed Fruit, 1927), or of Manuel and Antonio Machado (Juan de Mañara, 1927), as well as works of foreign authors, such as House of Dolls (1929), Ibsen and Dare, Susan (1929), from Ladislas Fodor.
