John J. Pershing was born in 1860 in Laclede, Missouri, États-Unis. John Joseph Pershing was a general of the armies of the United States, born on the 13septembre1860 in Missouri and died on 15juillet1948 to the hospital Walter Reed in Washington, D. C.. He is the only general with George Washington (posthumously in 1976), to have obtained the rank of General of the Armies. Pershing was appointed to the rank of major general and the United States declared war on 6 April 1917 the German Empire of Wilhelm II. Four weeks after the entry into war of the United States, Pershing received a telegram from his father-in-law, senator Warren, who asked him how he was speaking French. John replied that he spoke it fluently. A few days later, he received a letter from the senator. The latter informed him that the secretary of War, Newton D. Baker, had consulted about the general that should be sent to France. A new telegram from major-general Hugh L. Scott convened the Pershing to Washington, where the latter learned of his appointment to the command of the AEF. After the armistice, Pershing, continued his project of structuring of the army. In 1919, the Congress awarded him the title of General of the Armies of the United States. It remains to this day the officer with the highest officer who has ever served in the armed forces of the United States. His only predecessor in this grade is Washington, who was awarded posthumously. A battle tank, the M26 Pershing, as well as a ballistic missile, MGM-31 Pershing, have been baptized by the us army in her honor.
