Irène Tassembédo was born in 1956 in Burkina Faso. Former student of the École Mudra-Africa of Maurice Béjart in Dakar, Irene Tassembédo is part of the greatest figures of the choreography modern in contemporary Africa. Installed in Europe since the early 1980s, she developed a choreographic work original, blending contemporary dance and african dance, which is rooted squarely in the present, while reinventing the language of dance. Its openness to the whole of the techniques of dance and to other disciplines of the performing arts have led him to a career in multi-disciplinary choreographer and teacher renowned dance in Europe and around the world, but also as a talented actress in theatre, film and television.
