François Vibert was born in 1891 in Lyon, Rhône, France. His parents, Jean-Philibert Vibert and Benoîte-Louise Martin, exercised the craft of weavers of silk in the district of Croix-Rousse in Lyon. At the end of the First world War, it begins at the Comédie de Genève, where he stayed for three seasons. In 1922, he married Yvonne Bonneton whom he divorced two years later.
