Movie Reviews

The New York Times - 9/10 by Neil Genzlinger The impalement is a nice touch. The death by wood chipper, pretty sweet. But the best bit of comedy in the ridiculously gory Tucker and Dale vs. Evil eviscerates the field of psychology with no bloodshed at all.
Laramie Movie Scope - 9/10 by Robert Roten There is nothing very deep about this movie, but it is surprisingly funny for a slasher film.
Washington Post - 9/10 by John DeFore Tucker benefits from a sweetness not found in many of its peers, which unlike "Shaun" often lean too heavily on cynicism and gore.
NPR - 8/10 by Ian Buckwalter The film plays by genre rules - explicit gore included - even as it turns them on their severed head.
Empire - 8/10 by Adam Smith Genuinely funny. A life lesson in never prejudging a man just because he's skinning a squirrel.
Creative Loafing - 8/10 by Matt Brunson Film fans who believe there's no way they could ever cheer for rednecks (a lifetime of Deliverance and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will do that to a person) will sheepishly smirk as they find themselves rooting for the rubes holding center stage here.
Ultra Culture - 8/10 by Charlie Lyne Genuinely brilliant.
Los Angeles Times - 8/10 by Robert Abele A farce of misunderstanding first, body-count nightmare second and at nearly all times a refreshingly upending horror-comedy bromance.
Flick Filosopher - 8/10 by MaryAnn Johanson Oh, dear. Oh, my. Oh, goody. This is one of the funniest things I have ever seen, a clever, witty, surprising splatter comedy to rank with Evil Dead II and Shaun of the Dead...
Austin Chronicle - 8/10 by Marc Savlov Referencing everything from "Deliverance" to "The Evil Dead" to "Fargo" and nailing its central conceit dead-on (literally!), this is one of those rare genre comedies that near-perfectly balances its blend of grue, guffaws, and gag reflexes.
Chicago Sun-Times - 8/10 by Roger Ebert Students of the Little Movie Glossary may find it funny how carefully Tucker and Dale works its way through upended cliches. I though it had done a pretty complete job already, including the two or three chainsaws and the wood chipper, but I was much gratified at the end when a sawmill turned up.
Philadelphia Weekly - 8/10 by Sean Burns Beats a dead horse all the way to the glue factory.
