Movie Reviews

Dispatch-Tribune Newspapers - 9/10 by Steve Crum Engaging drama of servicemen in Japan. Top acting by all.
EmanuelLevy.Com - 7/10 by Emanuel Levy Logan's message picture about interracial marriage is made more enjoyable by the then novelty of locations shooting in Japan as well as likable performances from Marlon Brando, Red Buttons, and rest of the cast.
Goatdog's Movies - 7/10 by Michael W. Phillips, Jr. The supporting cast is remarkable, especially Red Buttons.
User Review - 10/10 by Ty M My favorite Brando movie. He is the epitome of cool in uniform with a southern drawl. Makes me want to enlist. Critics pick Streetcar or On the Waterfront as his best, but my money's on this one.
User Review - 10/10 by Nandi C As a former military person, I can feel for the people here. Brando plays an AF officer stationed in Japan, who is captivated by this Japanese singer who just happens to be the TOP singer in Japan; simple enough, but at the time after WW2 and just before Korea, fraternizing with the local women was a serious NO NO. On top of that, he is engaged to a general's daughter that doesn't help matters none and dealing with the racial stereotypes and bias comes to greet him. A great movie.
User Review - 10/10 by Amy K Oh Marlon Brando. Yes, his accent sucks but still, get past that and this is one of the most poignant movies ever. A timeless story about racism and expectations and most of all...LOVE.
User Review - 10/10 by NaWie M One of my favorite movies. I finally got around to reading the book and think the movie is much better than the book and seems more realistic. The acting is wonderful by everyone and should definitely be given a shot.
User Review - 10/10 by James H This is a classic , Brando gives a grand performance.
User Review - 10/10 by Kathleen O Brandon is at the top of his game is the love story dealing was racism in the military are Red Buttons, Miko Taka and Miyoshi. James Garner also has a great supporting role.

User Review - 8/10 by Vite M I can't believe I forgot to rate this. Anyways, Brando is very charming and his Southern accent shows his acting versatility. It's kind of slow at times, but it's still enjoyable. Its political message (love does not distinguish between races) was probably controversial for its time.
User Review - 8/10 by Jayden C A good film, well acted, fairly well directed, and this is just after seeing South Pacific! Remarkable!
