Movie Reviews

Christian Science Monitor - 5/10 by David Sterritt Three brief comedies filmed in English for a German television series. The most thoughtful is Seidelman's contribution, The Dutch Master."
TV Guide Magazine - 5/10 by Maitland McDonagh This package of three short films originally produced for German television is sex-themed without being especially sexy.
New York Daily News - 4/10 by Elizabeth Weitzman Don't let the title fool you. The one thing they have in common is how decidedly unerotic they are.
New York Post - 3/10 by V.A. Musetto With so many worthy movies being made in Europe, it's a crime that something as mediocre as Erotic Tales gets a release here.
The New York Times - 3/10 by Dave Kehr The results, to judge from the examples here, have been stuffy and disappointing, an unholy alliance between Playboy Channel prurience and PBS cultural alibis.
The A.V. Club - 2/10 by Noel Murray Their attempts at wit seem forced, and the overall point of each installment is too minor to spend nearly 30 minutes exploring.
Village Voice - 1/10 by Jessica Winter Whittled down from a series of 36 short films commissioned by a German television network between 1996 and 2000, Erotic Tales leaves you only to ponder the horror of the 33 that didn't make the cut.
User Review - 10/10 by JulesC. Very clever and interesting twist provided excellent comedy. Best of all was that it was not a "formula film".
User Review - 8/10 by DougS. Well worth viewing if only for the excellent "The Waiting Room". This surprising episode is marvellous study of people in a train waiting station. How the "Woman in Blue" turns the prying eyes of the man into her interest leaves the viewer in amazement. An interesting final twist to complete this great short movie.
